Sirens alert you "and the intruder" to an alarm event. They are usually installed inside in a hallway and outside in a tampered enclosure or in the attic. Ordinances require that they automatically shut off after a predetermined time, usually 10 minutes. At a minimum one siren should be installed inside the house.
